Software package AKUMIT - for acoustical measurements

Tool for measuring electroacoustics: impulse responses with MLS, TDS, different sweeps, and sinusoidals. measuring and calculating room acoustics: tens of descriptors. vibroacoustics: trigger input and modal analysis visualizing linear and nonlinear responses. visualizing harmonic distortion components. visualizing system delays and phases. many other possibilities with stepped sines and noise generators. up to 16 synchronized channels with max sampling frequency depending on hardware. Developed and tested only in (K)ubuntu 10.04. May work in other distros too. Binary only download. No active support, but all request will be considered seriously. Following steps are needed to start using Akumit:
• PC with audio hardware (internal, USB, or Firewire).
• Clean installation of (K)Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
• Install some official Ubuntu packages and their dependencies:
sudo apt-get install linux-rt
sudo apt-get install jackd
sudo apt-get install libc6
sudo apt-get install libfftw3
sudo apt-get install libgcc1
sudo apt-get install libjack0
sudo apt-get install libqt4-xml
sudo apt-get install libqtcore4
sudo apt-get install libqtgui4
sudo apt-get install libqwt5-qt4
sudo apt-get install libsndfile1
sudo apt-get install libstdc++6
• Add yourself to group called audio
sudo usermod -a -G audio `whoami`
• Configure limits:
sudo kate /etc/security/limits.conf
# Add following lines to gain more priority for audio:
@audio - rtprio 99
@audio - memlock 250000
@audio - nice -10
• Configure udev-rules (only if firewire audio hardware):
sudo kate /lib/udev/rules.d/50-raw-firewire.rules
# Add following line:
KERNEL=="raw1394", NAME="raw1394", GROUP="audio"
• Install akumit-package
sudo dpkg -i akumit_{VERSION}.deb
• Configure system to use real-time kernel:
sudo apt-get install startupmanager
sudo startupmanager
Select from "Default operating system" menuentry, where is "-rt" in the Linux kernel name.
Click Close
• Restart computer to start using real-time kernel:
reboot
• Now you can start using akumit
• If you have an USB connected audio hardware
jackd -dalsa -r44100 -p1024 -n2 -D -Chw:1 -Phw:1 &

jackd -dfirewire -r44100 -p1024 -n3 &
